Assisting those less fortunate in lesser-developed countries

As part of Rotary International, with over 33,000 Rotary Clubs totaling over 1.2 million members in over 200 countries around the world—more countries than the United Nations—the Rotary Club of Portland is doing much to assist less fortunate people in lesser-developed countries.

Club members have contributed more than $1 million to assist Rotary International in its humanitarian goals. Additionally, the Club partners with other Rotary clubs, communities and non-governmental organizations in other countries to help bring clean water to Central American villages, provide funds for scholarship assistance, construct a wheelchair manufacturing site in Guatemala, provide books and equipment for libraries in Paraguay, and start micro banks in underdeveloped villages.
