Rededication of the Rotary Wheel at Wahkeena Falls
A couple of years ago, the 100-year-old Rotary wheel was placed back at Wahkeena Falls. After a long and sometimes tumultuous journey, this piece of our club’s history has finally found its forever home.
On June 24th, the Rotary Club of Portland and the U.S. Forest Service will hold a rededication of the Rotary wheel at the picnic area at Wahkeena Falls.
A brief overview of the history of the wheel will be shared by U.S. Forest Service experts, followed by remarks by our incoming club president, Steve Watts.
After the short ceremony, we’ll participate in planting ferns around the picnic area, contributing to its lush, green beauty.
Those attending are invited to join a group hike at Wahkeena Falls following this event.
What to bring:
- Work/gardening gloves
- Comfortable shoes for hiking
- Water, if hiking
- Family and friends
- Coffee and pastries will be available
This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY event.
Please RSVP so that we have an idea of how many folks will attend.
We ♥ the environment, so please consider carpooling. If you are interested in sharing a ride, let us know.
