Rising Hope Foundation
Many African children grow up in circumstances that are hard to survive. Abject poverty, diseases, illiteracy and a culture that is more often than not hindering especially to a girl child are some of the hurdles one has to survive.
The good news is that a number of young people learn to survive the circumstances and to jump the bridge. One of such success stories is Edidah Mpumwire Tumwebaze.
What does one do to jump the bridge between abject poverty and a decent livelihood?
Edidah Mpumwire Tumwebaze will return to the club to express her thanks for the club's continued support of the Rising Hope Foundation in Uganda. Thanks to Portland Rotary, 14 poor but exceptional and deserving students are continuing their education. She will share the dramatic impact on these children's lives and inspire us with the great work that is being done by this collaboration of the Rotary Clubs of Portland and Bukoto (Uganda), and the Rising Hope Foundation.
