The Rotary Youth Exchange Program is an exchange student program for high school students to spend up to a year living with host families and attending school in a different country. Students act as Ambassadors, teaching people they meet about their country, culture, and ideas, and also learn a new way of living and a great deal about themselves. More than 8,000 young people internationally participate in Rotary Youth Exchange programs each year.
The Rotary Club of Portland typically sponsors two inbound and two outbound students for Youth Exchange, usually high school juniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants for the year-long program or shorter summer program must apply about a year in advance of their departure.
Current participating host countries are:
| Argentina | Finland | Mexico |
| Austria | France | Peru |
| Brazil | Germany | The Philippines |
| Chile | Great Britain | Russia |
| Czech Republic | India | Taiwan |
| Ecuador | Italy | Thailand |
| Denmark | Japan | Turkey |
