To mark our centennial in 2010, the Rotary Club of Portland is celebrating a "Century of Service" with a transformational community project.
In partnership with Portland-based New Avenues for Youth, the Rotary Club of Portland plans to open the Rotary Center for Career Training, which will provide job and educational services for hundreds of homeless and at-risk teens. Rotarians and community members are invited to an open house for the unveiling on Wednesday, May 12 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. to share hors d'oeuvres, view the space and celebrate the partnership. Large community projects are a Rotary tradition and an example of how members live up to the Rotary goal of offering 'Service Above Self.' Among our 100-year highlights are: donations to the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital beginning in the 1920's, more than $13 million raised to finance both the Rose Garden Children’s Park and the new Portland Children’s Museum in Washington Park, and $1.5 million to create six 14-person cabins at Rotary Village at YMCA Camp Collins. Our Club is thrilled to contribute to the continued success of New Avenues for Youth, and to continue our community service tradition for the next 100 years.

Rotary Club of Portland recently awarded $50,000 to Bradley Angle in support of their programs offering survivors of domestic and sexual violence options for safety, self-empowerment, healing and hope.
Founded in 1975 as the first domestic violence shelter on the West Coast, Bradley Angle provides an emergency shelter serving nine families at a time, transition services for 22 families for up to two years, community-based services including non-residential and LGBTQ-specific support groups and advocacy, an economic empowerment program, and the Healing Roots Center, a drop-in resource center serving African-American and African immigrant domestic violence survivors.
